Mission, Vision & History

At Alfred J. Gomes Elementary School, we support every child’s academic, linguistic, social, and emotional growth through meaningful learning and high expectations, rooted in our commitment to language and global education. Together with families, staff, and our community, we build leadership, effort, ambition, and respect. We encourage students to navigate challenges, grow their curiosity, and become lifelong learners and kind leaders.

At Alfred J. Gomes Elementary School, a Signature School for Language and Global education, we are a welcoming and inclusive community where every student grows into a confident learner and caring leader. Together with families, staff, and our community, we support students in becoming strong thinkers, effective communicators, and proud members of a diverse and multilingual world.

Every student at Gomes will develop their reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking skills through daily academic discourse that deepens understanding, builds ownership of learning, and expands their knowledge across content areas.

In every lesson, in every subject, and in both languages (for dual language classrooms), students will actively use language to express ideas, engage with content, build background knowledge and grow as critical thinkers and communicators.
